Available for delivery throughout Ireland, the Portwest US389 hi-vis gaiters sport reflective bands and are designed with ease of use in mind (including an adjustable hook and loop fastening system). They also sport contrast panels for protection against dirt. A cooling mesh fabric is built into these hi-vis gaiters for added comfort and breathability. Simply fit them over your work trousers for an additional level of visability.
The Portwest US389 gaiters are classified as supplemental Class E PPE, offering the wearer additional visibility and protection on the lower body. These are especially useful on construction sites or environments where there is a risk that the wearer may be struck by a moving vehicle. On dark, dirty worksites, hi-vis gaiters can help give additional visibility when combined with upper body hi-vis PPE. However, as mentioned, they are classified as supplemental PPE and are not sufficient when worn on their own.
What is supplemental Class E PPE?
Supplemental Class E hi-vis PPE is classified as clothing worn to increase a wearer’s visibility, typically worn on the lower part of the body (e.g. hi-vis trousers, hi-vis gaiters). However, it must be noted that they are not efficient to meet the standards when worn alone, and must be worn in conjunction with upper body Class 2 or Class 3 hi-vis garments in order to meet safety standards. When you wear Class E supplemental hi-vis PPE with a Class 2 hi-vis top, the standards combine to give you Class 3 hi-vis protection.
